Four constables sacked for links with criminals
Staff Report
RAWALPINDI: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani on Tuesday dismissed four constables on alleged links with criminals and anti-social elements and also suspended a sub-inspector (SI) of Taxila Police Station for defective investigation.
According to a press release, it came to the notice of RPO that Waris Khan Police Station’s constables Abdul Rehman and Ghulam Rasool, Pirwadhai Police Station’s Constable Tassadaq and Ganjmandi Police Station’s constable Abdul Ghaffar were allegedly receiving bribe from drug peddlers and prostitution dens and providing protection to business of these anti-social elements in their respective areas.
Durrani detailed Regional Investigation Branch (RIB) and deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Waris Khan to hold an inquiry against these police officials. The inquiry officers found the allegations true and reported to the RPO that they were earning a bad name for the police department. The report recommended strict departmental action against these officials. In the light of inquiry and recommendations, the RPO terminated the services of these constables.
A citizen Muhammad Ashraf lodged a complaint with the RPO that a criminal case (FIR No.644/09) was registered with Taxila Police Station and Investigating Officer (IO) Sub-Inspector (SI) Fateh Khan arrested the nominated accused but did not recover the case property due to ulterior motives to weaken the prosecution case.
The RPO directed Taxila DSP to probe the matter. The DSP found the allegations against Khan as correct.
He recommended departmental action against the SI. The RPO suspended SI from his service and also issued show cause notice to the station house officer of Taxila police for misconduct.
